Heavy Rain May Trigger Flash Floods, Landslides in Kashmir: MeT
SRINAGAR, April 8 -- The Meteorological Department has warned of possible flash floods and landslides in parts of Kashmir due to heavy showers, even as fresh snowfall was recorded in higher reaches and rains lashed the plains on Wednesday.
The popular tourist destination Gulmarg and other higher areas, including Kupwara and Bandipora, received fresh snowfall, while Srinagar and other plains witnessed rainfall.
According to the MeT department, erratic weather conditions are likely to persist till April 10.
Intermittent light to moderate rain in plains and snowfall in higher reaches is expected to continue till Wednesday evening, accompanied by thunder, hail and gusty winds at isolated places.
