The victory also enabled India to successfully defend the women's cricket title they won at the previous edition of the Asian Games.
Put into bat, India posted a formidable 216 for three in their allotted 20 overs, powered by a sensational 79 from opener Smriti Mandhana. Richa Ghosh remained unbeaten on 49, while Shafali Verma contributed a brisk 48.
India then produced a dominant bowling display, reducing Sri Lanka to 69 all out in just 15.4 overs.
