Govt to upgrade 714 High Schools into K-12

Srinagar, Aug. 25 -- The Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Omar Abdullah on Monday rolled out a phased plan to upgrade 714 High Schools into full-fledged K-12 composite institutions.

The decision was taken in a review meeting on Monday chaired by CM Omar Abdullah.

K-12 education refers to the system of public and private primary and secondary schooling that spans from Kindergarten (K) through the 12th Grade (12).

Taking to the microblogging site X, Office of Chief Minister, J&K posted, "Chief Minister chaired a review meeting of the School Education Department at Civil Secretariat, Srinagar."

It said that the meeting focused on improving the Gross Enrolment Ratio (GER) at the higher secondary level.
