India, Oct. 12 -- National Conference (NC) leader and former minister Sardar Harbans Singh died at a private hospital here early Monday. He was 84.Track Exec Orders

Singh, who had been unwell for some time, breathed his last around 2 am while undergoing treatment, his elder son Kulwant Singh said.

His last rites will be performed at the Shastri Nagar cremation ground at 5 pm on Monday.

Singh served as a Cabinet Minister in the government headed by Farooq Abdullah from 1996 to 2002. In December last year, he was appointed political advisor to the NC president.

He is survived by his wife, two sons and three daughters.
