Ebola death toll rises to 136 in Congo
Jammu, May 20 -- In Congo, the death toll due to the Ebola outbreak has risen to 136. Health Minister Roger Kamba informed this amid the spread of the deadly virus that has gripped the eastern part of the country.
According to Congolese health authorities, the country has recorded 543 suspected cases and 32 confirmed infections, while neighbouring Uganda has reported two confirmed cases.
The Congo is currently facing its 17th outbreak of Ebola, caused by the Bundibugyo strain of the virus. Previously, the Bundibugyo strain caused two outbreaks in 2007 and 2012, during which it killed around 30 per cent of those infected.
