CM urges people to conserve water, avoid its wastage

Jammu Tawi, Aug. 8 -- Urging people to conserve water and avoid its wastage, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Friday reaffirmed his government's commitment to provide safe, adequate and quality drinking water to every citizen.

Addressing a gathering after laying the foundation stones of major water supply and sewerage projects in Udhampur and Reasi, CM Omar said sustainable management of water resources requires collective public participation.

"Water conservation is a shared responsibility. We must use drinking water judiciously and avoid its wastage. I urge people to adopt the 'Catch the Rain' campaign and promote rainwater harvesting for gardening, agriculture and other non-potable uses," he said.
