BJP's Samrat Choudhary Sworn In as Bihar Chief Minister
PATNA, April 15 -- BJP leader Samrat Choudhary was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Bihar on Wednesday, becoming the first from the saffron party to occupy the top post in the state. Governor Syed Ata Hasnain administered the oath of office and secrecy.
Top leaders of the ruling NDA in Bihar, comprising the BJP, JD(U) and three other parties, attended the ceremony, including Union Ministers J. P. Nadda and Chirag Paswan, along with Nitish Kumar and NDA MLAs.
Nitish Kumar, now a Rajya Sabha MP, resigned as Chief Minister on Tuesday after dissolving his cabinet, in which Choudhary served as Deputy Chief Minister and held the key home portfolio.
