Srinagar, April 7 -- The BJP's Jammu and Kashmir unit on Monday celebrated its 47th foundation day at Rajouri Kadal area of Srinagar, once a bastion of separatist politics in the Valley.
Scores of party workers took part in the celebrations - where a flag was hoisted and sweets were distributed - near Mirwaiz Manzil at Rajouri Kadal, in the city's Downtown locality.
Mirwaiz Manzil is the office of Mirwaiz Umar Farooq-led Awami Action Committee, which was banned by the Centre last year.
Speaking to reporters, the BJP's Srinagar district president Peerzada Amir said the party wanted to celebrate the foundation day in Downtown, as it is an interior area in the city.
"There is no particular reason for holding the celebrations in Downtown....
