Madhepura (Bihar), June 20 -- Police in Bihar's Madhepura district have arrested a man for allegedly tampering with the national flag by replacing the Ashoka Chakra with a crescent and star.

The accused, identified as Mohammad Dukhan, a resident of Mirganj Ward No. 10 under Murliganj police station limits, was arrested after an FIR was registered under relevant legal provisions.

According to police, the incident came to light around 10 p.m. on Thursday after locals noticed that a tricolour displayed near a pan shop in Mirganj had been defaced. The altered flag was reportedly installed during the night, and the matter was brought to the attention of Murliganj police by a local resident.
