Jammu Tawi, Aug. 7 -- The annual Amarnath Yatra resumed on Thursday, with 659 pilgrims paying obeisance at the Holy Cave Shrine after the pilgrimage movement from Jammu resumed following a one-day suspension as a precautionary security measure ahead of the seventh anniversary of the abrogation of Article 370.
According to details available, only 297 men, 190 women, 15 children, eight sadhus, one transgender pilgrim and 148 security personnel performed darshan during the day.
The number of pilgrims who have paid obeisance at the Holy Cave Shrine during this year's Yatra has reached 4,71,588, officials said.
