CHANDIGARH, April 18 -- Punjab Police on Saturday busted a cross-border drug smuggling module in Amritsar, arresting two persons and recovering 64.62 kg of heroin from their possession, officials said.

Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav said the major haul was achieved under the state government's anti-drug campaign 'Yudh Nashian Virudh'.

The operation was carried out jointly by the Counter-Intelligence wing of Punjab Police and the State Special Operations Cell (SSOC) in Amritsar.

The arrested accused have been identified as Sarwan Singh alias Gujjar and Shamsher Singh alias Shera, both residents of Amritsar.
