Jammu Tawi, July 28 -- The Union government on Tuesday informed the Lok Sabha that Jammu and Kashmir has pending liabilities of Rs.836.29 crore under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS), while Ladakh has pending dues of Rs.5.33 crore as on April 1, 2026.
Replying to a question raised by Adv Chandra Shekhar, Minister of State for Rural Development Kamlesh Paswan said the government has made a budgetary provision of Rs.95,692.31 crore for Viksit Bharat - Guarantee for Rozgar and Aajeevika Mission (Gramin) (VB-G RAM G) for the period from July 1, 2026 to March 31, 2027. He said an additional Rs.36,000 crore was also allocated for MGNREGS for the first three months of the current financial year.
