Nigeria, May 10 -- The Anambra State House of Assembly has clarified that the clearance of Mrs. Esther Onyekesi as Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development was not a form of compensation for the death of her son.
The Chairman of the Anambra State House of Assembly Committee on Screening and Election Matters, Mr. Pius Okoye, made the clarification in a chat with newsmen in Awka.
Recall that Onyekesi, who was the state woman leader of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, had her son, who was an entrepreneur, kidnapped and killed by gunmen last year.
The opinion among netizens since her appointment was announced was that the Governor, Prof Chukwuma Soludo had used the appointment to compensate her.
