Nigeria, Aug. 17 -- A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Farouk Aliyu, has said the party did everything within its capacity to win the 2026 Osun State governorship election.

Aliyu, however, acknowledged that the people of Osun State ultimately decided to vote for the Accord Party, describing the outcome as a reflection of democracy.

Speaking on the outcome of the election, the APC chieftain said the party had no reason to believe it did not do enough to secure victory, noting that members were already reviewing what went wrong.

"I don't think we got anything wrong, really. We did our best. I mean, we did what we thought could make us win the election," Aliyu said.
