Nigeria, Sept. 7 -- The Osun State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal has officially commenced proceedings on petitions challenging the outcome of the August 15 governorship election, which returned Governor Ademola Adeleke for a second term.

The tribunal on Monday, September 7, displayed two petitions filed separately by the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on its notice board at the tribunal secretariat in Osogbo.

The development followed confirmation by the tribunal's Secretary, Pefe Belemore, that petitions challenging the election had been filed.

Belemore had earlier announced that the required notices would be displayed on the tribunal's notice board before noon on Monday.
