Nigeria, Aug. 11 -- Troops of Operation ENDURING PEACE have foiled an ambush by suspected bandits during a follow-up operation in Langtang North Local Government Area of Plateau State, killing one attacker and recovering an AK-47 rifle.

The operation followed the arrest and interrogation of a suspected bandit, whose confession provided troops with intelligence on a weapon allegedly concealed by the criminal syndicate in Nwur Village.

Acting on the intelligence, troops escorted the suspect to the village to recover the hidden weapon. However, as they approached the suspected hideout, members of the syndicate opened fire on the troops in an apparent ambush.

The troops responded with superior firepower, neutralising one of the attackers....
