Nigeria, July 6 -- According to security sources, the rescue took place at about 7:00 a.m. on July 2 during a routine patrol by soldiers stationed in Ngoshe.

The troops reportedly discovered the girls near Armuda Bridge while carrying out a standing patrol from their mountain position. After approaching with caution, the soldiers confirmed that the pair were civilians who had fled captivity.

The rescued victims were identified as 15-year-old Bintu Adamu and 11-year-old Sadiya Jummai.

Following the rescue operation, the troops conducted a sweep of the surrounding area, covering approximately 400 metres, to ensure there were no immediate security threats before returning to their base.
