Nigeria, Sept. 3 -- Troops of Sector 2, Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA (JTF NW OPFY), have rescued six kidnapped victims after engaging suspected terrorists along the Wasagu-Ayu Road in Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State.



The operation was carried out on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, following credible intelligence indicating terrorist activity around Mehinua Village in the area, The News Chronicle reports.



Acting swiftly on the intelligence, the troops mobilised to the location and made contact with the terrorists, triggering a fierce exchange of gunfire.



The troops' superior firepower forced the terrorists to flee, abandoning the six victims in their custody.
