Nigeria, March 8 -- The development emerged during an interfaith Ramadan fast-breaking event held at the Presidential Villa on Saturday, March 7, 2026.

The gathering brought together Vice President Kashim Shettima, members of the Federal Executive Council, the National Security Adviser, the Chief of Staff to the President, the Minister of Defence, service chiefs, military personnel, paramilitary leaders and other top government officials.

Speaking at the event, a senior military officer expressed gratitude to the President for approving improved pay and welfare packages for service members.
