Soldiers Repel Coordinated Boko Haram Attack on Borno Military Base, Recover Explosives
Nigeria, June 13 -- Troops of the 3 Battalion (Mechanised) and 24 Task Force Brigade have successfully repelled a coordinated attack by suspected ISWAP and JAS fighters on a military base in Ngala Local Government Area of Borno State.
Security sources reported that the insurgents launched the assault from three separate directions Wurge, Manawaji, and Kinuba axes in a simultaneous offensive aimed at overrunning the base.
A security analyst monitoring developments in the Lake Chad region, said the troops responded immediately with sustained gunfire, supported by reinforcements from battalion headquarters. Artillery and mortar units were also deployed to strengthen the defence during the intense exchange.
