Nigeria, Aug. 24 -- The Amadabo of Finima, Bonny, HRH Dagogo Brown, narrowly escaped death when gunmen invaded a cultural masquerade display and opened fire on his palace.

The attackers also allegedly destroyed property and injured several residents during the incident on Saturday.

The violence reportedly followed a dispute over cultural rites, masquerade displays and the rights of families to perform certain traditional activities.

The Rivers State Police spokesperson, ASP Blessing Agabe, confirmed the incident to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Port Harcourt on Monday.
