Police Detain Four Officers for Allegedly Extorting ICPC Chairman of 53,000
Nigeria, July 20 -- Addressing journalists on Monday, FCT Commissioner of Police Ahmed Sanusi said the officers abandoned their assigned duty posts and mounted an illegal checkpoint around the Banex area in Wuse, where they allegedly intercepted the ICPC boss.
According to Sanusi, the officers forced Aliyu to withdraw 53,000, including Point of Sale (PoS) transaction charges, before sharing the money among themselves.
Describing the officers as "thieves," the police commissioner vowed they would face the full weight of disciplinary measures, including possible dismissal from the Nigeria Police Force.
