NIMC Raises Alarm Over Fake NIN Portal Targeting Nigerians' Data
Nigeria, June 3 -- The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has issued a warning to Nigerians over a deceptive social media post advertising a fake online portal allegedly offering free correction of National Identification Number (NIN) details.
In a public notice shared via its X handle on Tuesday, the commission said the circulating message, along with its embedded links, is part of a phishing operation designed to harvest personal and sensitive data from unsuspecting citizens.
NIMC urged the public to ignore the post completely and avoid interacting with any suspicious links claiming to provide free modification of NIN records.
