Nigeria, March 24 -- In a statement released Tuesday, the Lebanese Foreign Ministry disclosed that Iran's charge d'affaires in Beirut, Toufic Samadi Khoshkhoo, was summoned and formally notified of the decision. The ministry directed that the designated ambassador, Mohammad Reza Sheibani, must leave Lebanese soil no later than Sunday.

In a related development, Lebanon has also called back its ambassador to Tehran, Ahmad Sweidan, for consultations. Officials cited what they described as Iran's breach of diplomatic conventions and the established principles guiding bilateral relations.
