Nigeria, May 9 -- The Lagos State Wastewater Management Office has sealed several housing estates and private properties across Lekki, Ajah and Surulere over the illegal discharge of untreated sewage into public drains and canals.

The enforcement action was disclosed by the Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, in a statement shared on his official X handle on Thursday, May 7, 2026.

According to the state government, the affected properties were shut down following repeated violations of environmental regulations despite several warnings and abatement notices issued by the agency.
