Nigeria, Sept. 24 -- Former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai says his ongoing ordeal has forced him to reassess some of his relationships, particularly with friends and associates who have remained silent or abandoned him during his current troubles.

El-Rufai disclosed this in a statement posted on X, reflecting on the lessons he said he had learnt from the difficult months he has faced.

The former governor is currently facing trial over allegations bordering on money laundering and conversion of public property.

He has been in the custody of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission since February 19, following his release by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.
