Group Worries over Pre-Election Violence, Intimidation Ahead of 2027 Polls, Demand Preventive Actions
Nigeria, Oct. 5 -- The Rule of Law and Accountability Advocacy Centre, RULAAC, has called on President Bola Tinubu, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services, DSS, and other security agencies to urgently tackle emerging cases of political intimidation and violence ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In a statement on Monday, the Executive Director of RULAAC, Okechukwu Nwanguma, said recent incidents and allegations across the country, including threats, disruption of opposition meetings, obstruction of political actors and alleged interference with campaign materials, were warning signs that should not be ignored until election day.
