Nigeria, July 3 -- The initiative, announced on Friday, is designed to strengthen Africa's rapidly growing gaming ecosystem by helping independent studios scale their businesses, reach global audiences and showcase African stories through gaming.

Google Play's Managing Director for Europe, the Middle East and Africa, Ben Wilson, said the fund reflects the company's commitment to unlocking the continent's creative potential despite longstanding funding challenges facing many developers.
