Nigeria, March 27 -- Officials confirmed approval of the new additions at a stakeholders' meeting in Ibadan, following a thorough examination by the relevant technical committees. The project hopes to provide farmers with more resilient and higher-yielding alternatives suitable to the Nigerian environment.
The newly presented crop types include important staples, such as maize, rice, yams, soybeans, tomatoes, peppers, and groundnuts. Many of them are developed for early maturity, better pest resistance, and tolerance to a changing climate. Higher meat yield and improved tolerance to heat stress are anticipated from the new chicken variety known as Moorbeta.
