Nigeria, March 17 -- Presiding Magistrate Lami Sani delivered the ruling after the defendant admitted to charges bordering on mischief and theft.
Before sentencing, Ibrahim pleaded for mercy, assuring the court that he had turned a new leaf and would not repeat such misconduct.
Earlier, the prosecuting counsel, A.A. Adeleju, informed the court that the incident occurred on March 5 when the defendant gained access to the mosque under the guise of collecting Ramadan food.
According to the prosecutor, while others waited in line, Ibrahim sneaked through the back entrance and carted away electrical cable belonging to the mosque.
