Nigeria, Sept. 28 -- The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that the collection of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) will commence nationwide on October 9, 2026, ahead of the 2027 general elections.

INEC Chairman, Prof. Joash Amupitan, disclosed this on Monday in Kaduna during the North-West Zonal Interactive Meeting with Staff and Readiness Assessment for the 2027 General Election.

Amupitan said the recent Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise resulted in more than 10.7 million new registrations.

He called for the removal of bottlenecks affecting PVC distribution at the Local Government Area level to ensure that eligible voters are not disenfranchised.
