Nigeria, April 19 -- Former Kano State governor and serving senator, Ibrahim Shekarau, has officially resigned from the People's Democratic Party (PDP), marking a significant shift in his political career.
In a resignation letter obtained by The News Chronicle dated April 19, 2026, and addressed to the PDP Chairman of Giginyu Ward in Nassarawa Local Government Area, Shekarau stated that his decision takes immediate effect.
The letter revealed that his exit followed "wide and extensive deliberations" within his political circle, with plans to pursue his political ambitions under a different platform.
