Nigeria, Aug. 17 -- Blessing Agbebaku has resigned as Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly amid moves by some lawmakers to remove him from office.

His media aide, Ivy Ebojele, confirmed the resignation on Monday, August 17, saying the Speaker chose to step down rather than face a formal impeachment process.
