Nigeria, March 9 -- The assault, which began at around 12:30 a.m. on Monday, saw insurgents approaching the camp from multiple directions. Security sources reported that most of the soldiers stationed at the camp were forced to withdraw, allowing the attackers to breach the base.
The insurgents set military vehicles on fire and looted weapons before leaving the area by daybreak. Soldiers later returned to find the camp heavily damaged, with several vehicles burned and weapons missing.
This marks the second attack on Kukawa within the past month. In a previous assault in February, Nigerian troops repelled the insurgents, killing several of them.
