Brazil Targets Over 80% Renewable Energy Share by 2055
Nigeria, Oct. 2 -- Brazil is targeting an increase in the share of renewable energy in its energy mix to more than 80 percent by 2055, alongside plans to double overall energy production.
TV BRICS, a NAN partner, reported on Friday that the target was contained in a long-term energy plan designed to guide Brazil's infrastructure, production and energy consumption decisions over the next three decades.
The plan was prepared by Brazil's Energy Research Office (EPE) under the supervision of the Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME).
It projects that clean energy sources will account for between 97 and 99 percent of the country's electricity generation by 2055, up from 96 percent in 2025.
