Nigeria, Aug. 24 -- Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has expressed sadness over the death of celebrated Nollywood actor, Alhaji Taiwo Hassan, describing his passing as a profound loss to Nigeria's creative community.

Atiku, in a condolence message, said it was particularly painful that the actor's death came only days after the public became aware of his battle with cancer.

He described Hassan as more than a gifted actor, noting that through his remarkable career, he brought laughter into countless homes, told stories that reflected Nigerian society and used his talent to entertain, educate and inspire social rebirth.
