Nigeria, Aug. 5 -- The Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Sa'ad Abubakar III, has dismissed claims that he endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term ahead of the 2027 presidential election, describing reports linking him to any political campaign as false and misleading.

In a statement obtained by The News Chronicle, the Sultan said the report circulating on social media was fabricated and intended to drag the revered traditional ruler into partisan politics.

The statement stressed that, as a father figure to all Nigerians, the Sultan could not publicly endorse any political party or candidate.
