Bangladesh, July 10 -- About 1.5 crore taka worth of encroached land owned by Sylhet District Council has been recovered.
This eviction drive was conducted under the leadership of District Council Administrator Abul Kaher Chowdhury Shamim in Salutikar Bazar of Gowainghat Upazila of Sylhet on Thursday.
According to the sources of the drive, about 30 hundred hectares of land under JL No. 162 and plots No. 472, 474 and 755 of Khatian No. 2 of Salutikar Mouza had been in illegal occupation for a long time.
Without a lease, some people had illegally built shops and occupied the roundabouts of the road and set up some more shops and were doing business there. In addition, a CNG stand and a mini pick-up stand were illegally built there.
