Bangladesh, Sept. 18 -- The National Pension Authority has decided to extend the period for pension payments to a nominee after the death of a pensioner from 75 years to 80 years, with a view to making the universal pension system more subscriber-friendly and participatory.

The profit rate for subscribers of the Universal Pension Scheme (UPS) against investments made during the 2025-26 fiscal year has been set at 11.72 percent, up from the previous rate of 11.68 percent.

The authority has also approved the introduction of a Shariah-based Islamic pension scheme.
