Bangladesh, Sept. 23 -- Employees of online grocery platform Chaldal demonstrated in front of the National Press Club in Dhaka on Tuesday, demanding payment of outstanding salaries and other dues.

The protesters alleged that around 2,800 workers had salary arrears. They claimed the company had issued cheques to hundreds of employees against unpaid dues, but the cheques were dishonoured due to insufficient funds.

The demonstration came within a week of a separate protest by dozens of employees, mostly from Jashore, who travelled to Dhaka and gathered at Chaldal's Banani headquarters demanding payment of arrear salaries. Some employees said they were owed up to six months' salary.
