Bangladesh, Sept. 13 -- The amount of total deposits in the country's agent banking reached to Tk51,129 crore at the end of June this year, up 1.96 percent from Tk50,563 crore in March quarter and 13.82 percent from a year earlier.

During the April-June period of 2026, 30 banks were providing agent banking services through 20,597 outlets operated by 15,424 agents, according to the quarterly report on Agent Banking published by Bangladesh Bank.

Number of agents increased by 1.58 percent and outlets by 1.27 percent during the June quarter. Likewise, the number of accounts opened through agent banking in Bangladesh rose to 2.722 crore at the end of June 2026, marking a 2.77 percent increase from the previous quarter.
