Bangladesh, July 13 -- Bangladesh's total outstanding public debt has reached Tk22,06,462 crore, including Tk9,59,311 crore in external debt, Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury informed Parliament on Sunday.Flood relief donations

The finance minister disclosed the figures while responding to a question from Golam Rasul MP during the question-and-answer session in the House.

He said the government is placing greater emphasis on increasing both tax and non-tax revenue to ease the mounting pressure of domestic and external debt.

For the current fiscal year, the revenue-to-GDP ratio has been targeted at around 10.4 per cent, with the primary objective of reducing reliance on borrowing through higher revenue mobilisation.
