Bangladesh, Aug. 3 -- Teachers who were finally recommended for the post of assistant teacher in government primary schools have withdrawn their ongoing sit-in protest at the capital's Shahbagh. They made this decision after the government announced the dates for joining (October 1) and posting (October 4).

They reached this decision after staging a sit-in for several hours on the road in front of the capital's Shahbag Police Station on Sunday (August 2), following the issuance of a new notification by the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education and discussions with relevant officials.

Around 2 PM, the recommended teachers announced the withdrawal of their protest and thanked the government. They then cleared the road and left Shahbagh.
