Bangladesh, May 6 -- Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Tuesday stressed the importance of conducting performance audits alongside compliance audits to strengthen transparency in public expenditure.

He underlined that performance audits are essential to ensure accountability in the use of public funds for delivering services to citizens and for achieving the intended objectives of government development projects.

The Prime Minister made the remarks at an event where he was briefed on observations and recommendations contained in 38 audit reports covering compliance and performance audits of various government departments and entities.
