PM calls for action against mental health stigma
Bangladesh, Oct. 10 -- Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has called for wider access to mental health care across Bangladesh, urging collective efforts to eliminate the stigma and discrimination that prevent people from seeking treatment and support.
In a message issued ahead of World Mental Health Day 2026, to be observed on Saturday, the Prime Minister said mental health was closely linked to human dignity, family, society and the overall well-being of the state.
This year's theme, "Lived experiences heard: real voices, real change", highlights the importance of listening to the experiences, feelings and opinions of people living with mental health conditions, he said.
