Bangladesh, Oct. 7 -- Food Minister Afroza Khanam has said that no government wants syndicates to operate, as their presence ultimately harms ordinary consumers. "We do not want the word 'syndicate' to exist at all. Our main goal is to ensure safe food reaches the people," she said.

The minister made the remarks while responding to questions from journalists after inspecting a government food warehouse and several facilities in Siddhirganj, Narayanganj on Tuesday.

"Our main objective is to ensure safe food for the people. Following the Prime Minister's directives, the Ministry of Food is working towards that goal," she said.
