Bangladesh, July 1 -- The prime suspect in the high-profile murder of cable TV businessman Nasir was assaulted by an angry crowd after being brought to court in Narayanganj on Tuesday.

The suspect, Sharif, was attacked by protesters while police were escorting him to the court of Senior Judicial Magistrate Saiful Islam for a remand hearing.Crime & Justice

At one stage, members of the crowd managed to overpower police officers, drag the suspect away, and beat him before law enforcement regained control.

Demonstrators gathered on the court premises chanting slogans including, "Death penalty for the killer" and "Hang Sharif."
