Bangladesh, May 19 -- Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin has emphasised that political parties must take a responsible role to ensure that local government elections are violence-free and more

participatory.

Speaking at the inauguration of the new committee of the Reporters Forum for Election and Democracy (RFED) at the Election Training Institute (ETI) in Agargaon on May 18, the CEC called for understanding and cooperation among political parties to establish a sustained culture of free and fair elections, rather than focusing on isolated successes.
