Bangladesh, Oct. 18 -- A fire at jute warehouses in the Bandar area of Narayanganj gutted around 14 small tin-shed structures early Saturday, causing an estimated Tk 50 lakh in losses. No casualties were reported.
The fire broke out in the Kuripara Bottola area of Ward 27 of Narayanganj City Corporation (NCC) in the early hours of Saturday.
Sanjay Khan, station officer of the Bandar Fire Service, said a preliminary assessment suggested that an electrical short circuit may have triggered the blaze.
Around 14 tin-shed structures were gutted, causing estimated losses of Tk 50 lakh. However, the swift response helped save property worth approximately Tk 1 crore, he said.
