Bangladesh, March 6 -- A family in Chandrashekherdi village of Bitashwar Union in Daudkandi upazila, Cumilla, was subjected to a violent attack after refusing to pay an alleged extortion demand of Tk10 lakh, leaving women injured and the area gripped by fear.
According to victims and complaint sources, AKM Zulfikar Ali had been overseeing construction of a structure at the residence of his father, Haji Ali Ahmed, in Chandrashekherdi. At around 6:00am on Wednesday, a group of local and outsiders, allegedly led by Shahid, Akbar, Shahadat and Badal, entered the premises and demanded Tk10 lakh from Zulfikar Ali and his wife, physician Tahmina Jahangir.
